BGA spring support  

Ever had a BGA with too much probe force applied to it?  And too many components populating the unit under test ?  At Arcadia Test, we have the answer.  Where push rods cannot reach, we use the BGA Spring Support Unit.  This is a spring-loaded device used as a counter to the probe force applied to the BGA.  It is pressed onto the BGA with precise compressing calculations just enough to support the BGA.  With this solution, BGA testing is at its best.

Unit could be used in conjunction with testjets.

This unit is used on BGAs when push rods cannot be used.  It is made up of 4 solid walls that push downward around the perimeter of the BGA.  It provides a leveled support to minimize board flex around the BGA.  This durable unit provides a low-cost and effective solution for BGA safety.

Sliding side access

 

This quality finished unit may be used for probing devices that are mounted on the side of the board.  It operates mechanically – the vertical motion of the top plate in a fixture under vacuum is translated to the horizontal motion required for testjet probes or testpoints for 90 degree connectors. Our side-access unit is housed in a heavy-duty frame that lasts a lifetime and it requires absolutely no maintenance.  Its smooth linear motion is precise and reliable.

At Arcadia Test, LED testing is made simple.  We use various LED test brands like SMART Finn or Optomistic products to test LEDs displayed on the boards under test.  With strategic placement of the LED test device, we are able to detect the color and intensity of the emanating LED.  We have developed simple solutions for testing from bottom, top, or side of the board.  Using these test devices as part of your automated test would save time, money, and more importantly it is error-free by reducing operator’s subjectivity.

In light of today’s boards growing smaller in size and heavily populated with components, test point spacing are decreasing smaller than 50mils requiring test probes to also reduce in size and spacing.  At Arcadia Test, our expert engineering and production team have many years of designing fixtures to accommodate 39mil center probes.  We guarantee the same reliability and accuracy of test to our fixtures.

This useful tool will minimize induced stress on the board under test.  The 3-D software will account for all components populated on the board, probe force and push rod locations on the fixture.  It uses this information to simulate the actual test to determine which area of the board is enduring too much stress and then provide suggestions to correct the situation.  A damage board could cost upwards of thousands of dollars and lost time.  The board stress analysis is an excellent solution to save cost and time during board production.

This process of milling out components on the top plate aid board flatness under test is critical to prevent unnecessary board stress.  With the aid of highly developed software and precise machines, we are able to produce a quality finish that would promise to ensure the integrity of the unit under test.

This drilling process of the top plate will aid the test probes to better hit vias\testpads that are undersize.  With a series of different drill bit diameter coupled with precise depth control drilling, Arcadia Test is able to manufacture a calculated guide to ensure test probe registration to be reliable for the smallest via.
